Mechanical Completion of Sainshand Salkhin Park

Sainshand Salkhin Park (SSP) is pleased to announce the Mechanical Completion of the electrical installations (Balance of Plant) and 25 Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) on August 21st, 2018. This milestone has been reached after more than 670 000 man hours without any lost time accident.

In August 2017, SSP has started the construction work of the wind park with 55 MW capacity corresponding to a total of 120 million USD investment. The construction project is located 15 km south-east of Sainshand soum, Dorno-Gobi aimag and will generate the equivalent of the electricity consumption of more than 100 thousand households in Mongolia.

Finalization of all construction works required to connect the wind park and its electrical installations to the Mongolian transmission line grid is the key milestone that triggers the next phase of the project. During the coming weeks, SSP will work side-by-side with the authorities (MoE, NREC, NDC, NPTG,…) to confirm compliance with all the required conditions has been reached. The subsequent objective is to connect the installations to the grid during the start of September following the Technical Commission inspection. This connection will enable SSP’s commissioning of the WTGs resulting in a gradual built up during September and October of the wind energy fed into the Mongolian electrical system. By the end of October the entire plant is expected to be generating at full capacity and that for the following 26 years.
